Poole's World U21 champion and former King's Lynn ace Darcy Ward will make a swift Norfolk Arena return in

Wednesday's Elite League pairs.

Ward notched paid 16 on his first competitive Saddlebow outing since leaving his first British club in last week's 50-43 Elite League win for the Stars and now comes in as a late repalcement for Poole skipper Davey Watt.

Ward will be paired with Chris Holder in group B of the first showpiece event of the domestic season.

Poole chief Matt Ford said: 'Davey is still trying to get his set-ups right and has been investing heavily in doing so, but right now he feels that it is in the best interests of the club for him to step aside in the pairs and let in-form Darcy take his place.

'Of course I support that view but once again it is a fine example of Davey looking at the team's interests above his own.'

King's Lynn's Danish duo Kenneth Bjerre and Niels-Kristian Iversen go in group A against a Wolves outfit missing Team GB talent Tai Woffinden. The former GP racer has been ruled out for up to three weeks after breaking his collarbone in a BMX accident over the Bank Holiday weekend. Wolves will use rider replacement for Tuesday's Elite League meeting against Belle Vue but have yet to announce who will partner Freddie Lindgren at Lynn. Midlands rivals Birmingham have also suffered an injury blow with Danny King ruled out after crashing in Poland last week. The top two teams from each pool progress to the semi-finals.
