Today is England's day of destiny. And 7pm is their time to shine.

Fans had stopped dreaming about reaching a World Cup semi-final, but that knife-edge moment of desolation or delirium is here.

England v Croatia. One shot at reaching the final. One chance for Kane, Maguire and Pickford to join Hurst, Moore and Banks as football's history men.

For a generation, it is uncharted territory. For everybody else, a World Cup semi has happened once - or twice - in a blue moon.

This afternoon, the region's offices and streets will empty, creating an eerie calm before the storm.

Nervous fans will gather in pubs and their houses, decked out in red and white, biting their nails, daring - and not daring - to dream.

Our hunger for success has been shown by a big rise in takings at Norfolk and Suffolk's pubs and an explosion of red-and-white flags and buntings.

All of that hunger, faith, hope and historic pain will be poured out in singing, chanting, roaring and cheering this evening.

The summer party rolls on and we don't want it to stop.

Come on England!
