Snetterton's final race meeting in its current format takes place on Saturday with the opportunity to assess the young talent with ambitions to reach Formula One.

Carlos Sainz Jnr, son of the former World Rally champion, will lead the European Koiranen Bros Motorsport team in the opening two races in the Formula Renault Winter series.

The 16-year-old Spaniard has impressed in the European Formula BMW Championship and should be fighting for honours in the twin races with team mates Danill Kvyat, Antti Rammo and John Bryant-Meisner. Sainz will not be the only son of a former champion as Josh Hill, son of Damon Hill, the 1996 Formula One champion, graduates to the series after a competitive season in Formula Ford. Young Hill has already won in Formula Ford.

Alice Powell won the BARC Formula Renault Championship and will make her first appearance in the newer-type car this weekend and could easily set a pace her male rivals find hard to match. Others to watch out for are multiple karting champion Oliver Rowland and a former rival of Hill's in Formula Ford, Dan Wells.

The short four-race programme (11am), is completed by twin Caterham races.
