Dereham II and Harleston Magpies III inflicted more misery on the Premier Division's bottom club in the Marshall Motor Group Norfolk League.

Pelicans II lost 3-0 to Dereham II on Saturday before going down 4-1 to Magpies III 24 hours later – results which kept both winners in the hunt for second place on a weekend when all other Premier fixtures were postponed.

Dereham took the lead when Fran Grapes fired in from the right of the D. And they added further goals in the second half through Helen Kiddle Morris and Hannah Dewing.

In Division One Norwich Dragons III are already assured of the title after thrashing UEA III 9-1.

Although second-placed UEA II won 6-0 at North Walsham they are eight points adrift with only two games remaining.

Dragons III were short of a few regular players but had no problems preserving their perfect record.

They dominated from the off, playing some text book passing hockey to net three times before the interval, all from short corner opportunities.

In the second half UEA pulled one back before Dragons hit six more goals, some of them from more text book short corners.

Struggling Evergreens II drew 1-1 at high-flying Sprowston II with the help of two new players – Tor Howman and Kathryn Crompton.

Both settled in well and Evergreens created several chances, with Jess Shand giving Sprowston problems with her pace.

Sprowston were more of a threat in the second half and took the lead. But Evergreens equalised when a pass from Laura Tait was collected by Jess Shand, who beat three players before placing the ball past the keeper.

In Division Two Sprowston III won 4-2 at Hornets, despite twice going behind. Both were swiftly cancelled out, by Lisa Trussell and Sharon Weeks.

Sprowston picked up the pace and pressed harder in the second half. Liz Hollis scored from a strike at the top of the D and Weeks netted a deflection to complete the scoring.

• Women's East League Division One North leaders Harleston Magpies II drew a blank in one of the few league matches played at the weekend.

Magpies were held 0-0 at home by mid-table Dereham, a week after putting six without reply past Pelicans.

On the back of that result they went into the game high in confidence and it quickly became one-sided, with Magpies keeping Dereham on their toes in their defensive 25 – Anouska Hipperson causing particular problems. But they were unable to find a way past the visiting keeper.
