Wisbech Town joint-boss Dick Creasey is honest enough to admit that their FA Vase quarter-final opponents' form this season has been sensational.

The Fenmen make the long trek to Southampton-based Sholing for a massive last-eight tie. And once again the Elgood's Fenland Stadium outfit will have it all to do as they tackle a fifth away game in this term's competition.

Sholing won 9-0 on Tuesday, have not lost any of their 14 home league games, have plundered 89 goals in 24 matches and sit one point off the top of the Wessex Premier Division – despite having a huge eight games in hand on table-topping Winchester City. Perhaps it's no wonder then, with such a terrifying record, that Creasey just wants to focus on his troops' preparation going into Town's biggest game for many a year.

Creasey said: 'I watched their (fifth round) game against Larkhall, I had somebody travel down there again last week to watch them again in a league game and I do understand they had people up at our game last week, which is quite obvious.

'If you look at their stats it's frightening. Whatever league they're playing in it does point that they're a very, very good side. We've assessed most of their strengths, because mainly it is strengths, but we've just touched on one or two weakenesses and again, we have to do all this.

'But again it's down to how we perform, and how we prepare ourselves to make sure we're not up against it. If we don't prepare ourselves properly we haven't got a chance. But we will prepare properly, and we'll work on one or two things we've picked up from watching them, and not worry too much about the stats because if we take that into consideration we'll frighten ourselves half to death.'

The Boatmen are among a number of sides tipped to reach the Wembley final. But Wisbech have already seen off much-fancied Gornal Athletic, Ashington and Hadleigh United – as well as Walsall Wood – on the road to progress to today's clash, which will go to a replay if the teams can't be separated after extra-time. Carl Mackney will again deputise in goal for the cup-tied Lea Jordan. Vase hero Tom James has bagged seven of his side's 11 goals during their fine run but has moved to Australia so will be missing.

Creasey, whose club will pocket £4,500 prize money if they progress, added: 'If you're in the draw for the semi-final, whether that means you've got to replay or you've won outright, you've got a massive chance. As I've said to the players, it's not about me, it's about them and doing it for our massive supporters.'
