A perfect weekend of weather meant the fishing at Rocklands Mere went from pretty average at best to exceptional overnight.
The hot, bright sunny days saw fish retreat to the deeper water, but over the weekend the temperatures were cooler and stormy with overcast skies, meaning that fish were making the most of the conditions and were up and feeding.
On Saturday, Graham Coles banked six rainbows on home tied emerger patterns from the West bank. Sunday saw eight anglers and some really encouraging returns. The rod average was 4.25 with Andy Hunt landing nine on dries from the back of the island. Martin Smith had seven rainbows and one huge double figure brown trout from the far end of the lake on blobs and Luis deSouza had eight rainbows during a frantic last-minute evening rise.
Avoid the hot, bright, sunny days especially if there is no breeze as fishing will be difficult to say the least.
