Lowestoft Town joint boss Micky Chapman admits the Blues are still searching for the right formula away from home after their goalless draw at Wingate & Finchley.

The Blues management team were pleased to come away with a point after registering their fifth clean sheet from their first seven games.

However, they are determined to add the same goal threat on their travels as they possess at Crown Meadow, where they have taken maximum points so far this season.

'We put a lot of emphasis on defending from the front and all the boys have really been working their socks off,' said Chapman. 'We need to be a bit more creative going forward away from home – we know that.

'Any point away from home in this league is a very good one. We've now kept five clean sheets out of seven games and I really believe the goals will start flowing for us again.

'It's an old adage but if you win at home and draw away then you're going to be right up there.'

Chapman admitted the Blues are still missing the presence of Jack Defty up front as the striker continues his rehabilitation from a broken leg.

However, with the former King's Lynn man still some way from making a return it is a problem they must solve if they are to stay in the mix at the top. After bringing in the attacking talent of Bradley Woods-Garness and Jack Ainsley, Chapman is confident his side possess a potent goal threat.

'Jack (Defty) is a big miss – he has been massive for us and of course we are missing him but we have to get on with it,' he said.

'The system we are playing is not defensive. We have been causing teams no end of problems at home with it. We've just got to look at carrying the same threat when we're away from home as well.'

Lowestoft welcome Hendon to Crown Meadow tomorrow (kick-off 3pm) before entertaining Grays Athletic on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Danny Cunningham is expected to come back into contention after missing the trip to Wingate through illness. Chris Henderson was also missing due to a virus and will miss out tomorrow as he serves a one-match ban for his sending off at Canvey Island.

Greg Crane (thigh) and Curtley Williams (knee) will also miss out and Chapman admitted the Blues squad is being stretched.

'We are low on numbers at the moment,' he said. 'We've got a quality squad but it's small.

'We will cope though and we've just got to stay in the mix at the moment.'
