A goal on the stroke of half time of a lifeless first half gave little indication that the second period would produce a six-goal spectacular.

Lowestoft made just one change to their line up with a fit again Harry Barker replacing the suspended Andrew Fisk.

The first 44 minutes were a lifeless affair doing nothing to warm the spirits of the sparse crowd. The only real action being an excellent save by Ben Dudzinski to tip over a close range header from Eddie Dines and a Rory McAuley header that produced a routine save by Matte Pierson.

The game changed completely in the final minutes of the first half as first Barker picked out Nico Cotton who hit the angle of the bar and post. With the half into added time Cotton's right wing corner saw Sam Borrer glance a near post header over the keeper and into the net via the far post for his first goal for the club.

The second half produced thrills galore as an excellent combination down the left by Dominic Morgan-Griffiths and Peter Wedgeworth ended with the unfortunate Barker turning the ball into his own net to level the scores after 51 minutes.

It took Lowestoft just seven minutes to regain the lead. Another corner did the damage but this time from the opposite flank with Jacek Zielonka's flag kick finding Matty Foy at the far post to head in his first goal for the Trawlerboys.

Lowestoft were in full flow now and in the 65th minute increased their lead with a superb Shaun Bammant strike. With his back to goal he collected a Cotton cross, controlled the ball and spun in a single movement to volley into the top of the net from 12 yards.

The fourth goal came in the 74th minute with Harvey Hodd finding Bammant who touched the ball back to Foy to hit his second goal of the afternoon.

Lowestoft went nap in the 81st minute thanks to the determination of Foy. He pressured the last defender as he tried to play the ball out, eventually robbing him and with only the keeper to beat to complete his hat-trick he played the ball square to Bammant to tap into an empty net for his second of the afternoon.
