Adam Mason described Great Yarmouth Town's win away to runaway leaders Felixstowe & Walton United as the best since he and Martyn Sinclair took over at the Wellesley.

Now the Bloaters' bosses will be determined to ensure they follow it up in the correct manner when they entertain Saffron Walden Town.

Yarmouth's midweek success proved that you can win things with kids – as has been their policy – with youngster Kieran Hagan netting a second-half winner and providing a superb response to a disappointing home defeat in the Norfolk Senior Cup at the hands of underdogs Downham Town.

It's seven unbeaten in the league for Yarmouth, who are now just one point and one place behind 14th-placed Gorleston, who will be hoping to bounce back from last weekend's last-minute defeat at Saffron Walden - their first in five games - when bottom of the table Wivenhoe Town visit Emerald Park.

Fakenham boss Andy Cunningham was left frustrated as his side failed to take their chances in the first half of a midweek 4-0 defeat to Newmarket Town.

'It was really frustrating,' said Cunningham, whose side are away to Histon. 'For 40 minutes we weathered their storm, created chances that we should have put away and were well in the game.

'Then a questionable free-kick is given, they get themselves in front and just after half-time they get their second. It is always going to be hard to come back from that against a side in and around the top six.'

Thetford Town were disappointed to exit the Senior Cup at Anglian Combination Division One side Wymondham a week ago, but bounced back with a midweek win over Haverhill Borough. However, they have a tough trip to fourth-placed Stowmarket today, while Kirkley & Pakefield travel to Walsham le Willows

In the First Division, fourth-placed Swaffham Town are at home to Leiston, while Norwich CBS, in seventh, travel to Diss, who have slipped to 16th after have lost their last six, scoring once and conceding 21 times. Norwich United Reserves are at Framlingham, while Downham Town go to Team Bury.
