With matters at the top of the table settled attentions turn to a tight battle against the drop at the bottom of the Premier Division.

Norwich United retained their title with victory at Walsham le Willows in midweek but Swaffham, Fakenham and Thetford are all in the thick of the fight with time running out.

Joe Jackson's goal was enough to earn Swaffham a point at Ipswich Wanderers on Wednesday night, ahead of the reverse fixture at Shoemakers Lane this afternoon.

Ipswich are six points clear of the second-from-bottom Pedlars and know that defeat in Norfolk would keep them in the mix for relegation, with Swaffham still having a game in hand on them.

Fakenham picked up an impressive point in midweek as well, holding sixth-placed Mildenhall to a thrilling 3-3 draw at Clipbush Park on Wednesday.

Ashley Jarvis had given the Ghosts an early lead but the visitors had moved 3-1 ahead before Kyle Plumb followed up a saved penalty and Jarvis scored a free-kick to snatch a valuable point.

Fakenham host Haverhill Rovers today, who are comfortable in mid-table, looking to close the three-point gap to Thetford, who occupy the final position of safety.

The Brecklanders have had to watch patiently as they did not have a game during the week and travel to Essex to also face a mid-table team, Saffron Walden Town.

Danny White's team have won two of their last three games and still have a game in hand on Fakenham, who they lost 1-0 to in their last match on April 12.

Elsewhere in the division, Norwich United will be presented with the league trophy following their home clash with Long Melford, as the dominant leaders continue heading towards breaking the 100-point barrier.

Kirkley & Pakefield host FC Clacton as they look to maintain their good form, with Gaven Tipple's team still in with a chance of finishing in the top four.

The Royals thrashed bottom club Whitton 7-0 at Walmer Road last weekend and followed that up with a 2-0 win at Saffron Walden on Tuesday, thanks to goals from Ross Gilfedder and Jack Herbert.

Gorleston are also at home but look likely to face a tough proposition in second-placed Stanway Rovers.

The Greens have not had a game for two weeks, leaving them to pore over the pain of two successive 4-0 defeats, to Thetford and Long Melford. Stanway, on the other hand, arrive at Emerald Park on a 20-match unbeaten run and having scored 10 more goals than Norwich United this season.

Great Yarmouth also face a tough game as they look to keep their First Division promotion push on track, having won 2-0 at home against AFC Sudbury Reserves on Tuesday, with goals from Charlie McAra and Sean Perfect.

The Bloaters travel to leaders Wivenhoe, who are already promoted but lost 2-0 at Ely last weekend. Yarmouth have Halstead breathing down their necks, just two points further back, but the Essex side also face a tough task when they host fifth-placed King's Lynn Town Reserves.
