Wisbech Town boss Dick Creasey wants his players to show their worth against old Thurlow Nunn League rivals Kirkley & Pakefield.

The Fenmen, who switched into the United Counties League Premier Division last season, were hammered 4-1 at Thurnby Nirvana on Saturday.

And Creasey is demanding a response when Town host the Royals in the FA Cup Preliminary Round this afternoon.

The Wisbech boss, who this week lost midfielder Callum Reed to Yaxley, said: 'There are no excuses about Saturday. From front to back, from the first minute to the 90th, we were awful. We were probably lucky to get away with 4-1.

'Not taking anything away from Thurnby, who deserved to win, it was without a shadow of a doubt the worst performance I've seen from a Wisbech team in a long time. I've got a big enough squad to make changes, so there will be changes. Kirkley & Pakefield are a hard side and play a lot of football.

'We are at home and we've got a few things to put right. We have got a hard game ahead of us and we are desperate to win.'

The winners of the tie, which will go to a replay if the scores remain deadlocked after 90 minutes, will pocket £1,925 prize money.

In Thurlow Nunn action, Premier Division strugglers Diss Town – who are yet to pick up a point after four games and have only scored once – host Fakenham Town. Elsewhere, Gorleston visit Stanway Rovers.

In the First Division, Downham Town travel to Braintree Town, King's Lynn Town Reserves are at Halstead Town and Dereham Town Reserves are on the road at Leiston Reserves.

Swaffham Town – who along with Fakenham and Diss exited the FA Cup in the previous round – will be aiming to keep up their 100pc start to their league programme when they welcome Team Bury to Shoemakers Lane.
