It's fair to say Norfolk teams have enjoyed better seasons in the Eastern Counties League.
Just two sides from the county managed to win at the weekend – Norwich CBS beat Cornard 4-0 and Swaffham won 4-2 away to Team Bury in the First Division.
The total points haul in the Premier Division was just two – Gorleston drew 1-1 at bottom side Wivenhoe while Thetford and Long Melford drew 1-1 at Mundford Road. Gorleston had led through Joel Watts' first-half penalty, but were pegged back seven minutes from time. Thetford are unbeaten in six games now – Robbie Priddle scored on the strike of half-time, but it was all square seven minutes after the break.
Great Yarmouth went down 1-0 at home to Stowmarket, who scored from a second-half penalty, while Fakenham's woes continued as they lost 3-0 at home to Saffron Walden - the gap between them and the only team below them, Wivenoe, is down to four, and the Ghosts have played more game more.
And it was a bad day at the office for Wroxham, thumped 4-0 at home by second-in-the-table Felixstowe & Walton United. Their cause wasn't helped by the first-half dismissal of Kyle Plumstead for a second yellow card when the score was 1-0.
If there was any consolation it was from a team just over the border, with Kirkley & Pakefield winning 2-1 at FC Clacton.
In the First Division, fourth-placed Swaffham took the lead after just five minutes when Alan Woodcock headed home. Team Bury levelled but Alex Vincent put the Pedlars ahead again. The hosts equalised again, but Swaffham went ahead on 61 minutes through Matthew Gilchrist with Joe Jackson putting the game to bed 10 minutes later, lobbing the keeper from 25 yards.
Norwich CBS went ahead through James Baughurst's deflected shot. A much better second half saw Jordan King score his first goal for the club with a chip from close range, before Matt Doyle sealed the win with two close-range goals, taking his tally to 25 for the season.
King's Lynn lost 3-0 at Braintree, Downham drew 1-1 at home to Holland FC and Diss drew 1-1 at Little Oakley. Norwich United lost 7-0 at leaders Woodbridge.
The east coast derby between Premier League rivals Great Yarmouth and Gorleston, postponed on Easter Monday because of the bad weather, will now take place on Bank Holiday Monday, May 7 at the Wellesley (3pm kick-off).
