Thorpe Ladies go top of table

Taverham 2, Thorpe United Ladies 2

A draw was enough to see Thorpe Ladies go top of the league by one point.

Thorpe took time to adapt to the condition of the pitch and after 17 minutes Taverham took advantage of some poor defending and scored.

Chances seemed hard to come by but it took some attacking intent by Alice to provide Bex with her first chance of the game but the keeper made a good save pushing the ball out for a corner.

After 30 minutes Thorpe took a chance provided by Mary who crossed the ball for Charlotte who finished strongly with a unstoppable shot pass the home keeper making the score 1-1.

Mary was by this stage taking control of the defence while also presenting the more attack minded midfielders with the chance to penetrate the Taverham rearguard.

The next chance came to Kerry but she was unable to punish the Taverham back line. Thorpe United had by now took control of the match and deservedly took the lead for the first time of the match with a header from Charlotte that looped over the goalkeeper's head, thanks to Laura making the opportunity.
