Beautiful spring weather enticed plenty of boats to the starting line at Oulton Broad at the weekend.

On Saturday the dinghies were out in force with 16 boats racing. Richard Fryer in his RS300 gained a first and a second in the fast handicap races, with David Frary in his Finn also taking a win.

Veronica and Ben Falat were out in their new Fireball and were first to finish both races but had to settle for second and third on handicap. Similarly, in the slow handicap races, Joe Drake in his Topper finished first but was beaten on handicap by Bethany Hood in her RS Tera.

On Sunday it was the turn of the keelboats to be most numerous. John Lockwood, crewed by Hannah Atkin, won the Squib race and Geoff Little won the Waveneys. In the Mixed Keels race Gary Fuller in Waveney 34 made the best start and pulled well clear of the rest of the fleet while there was a hard fought battle for second place, eventually secured by Phil and Sheelagh Large in Waveney 10.

The dinghies were few in numbers as some of the usual Lasers were at the Hickling open meeting where WOBYC sailors Jonathon Jones, Alan Cone and Simon Beckett took first, second and third places.
