Norfolk bowler Olly Stone has made a brilliant start to the County Championship season, taking career-best figures of eight for 80.

The 25-year-old former Vauxhall Mallards paceman had taken all six Sussex wickets on day three of Warwickshire's season opener, leaving the visitors on 194-6 overnight, chasing the hosts' total of 299.

Stone then surpassed his previous first class best of six for 90 with another two wickets to help dismiss Sussex for 374 this afternoon to tee up an eventual draw, finishing his home Championship debut at Edgbaston with 80-8 from 22.5 overs, including four maidens.

The former England U19 international suffered knee ligament damage while with former club Northants during the 2016 season. He featured for Norfolk last summer while regaining full fitness, playing a single Division One away game for Warwickshire but playing regular Twenty20 games, helping his club to finish as runners-up in the Natwest T20 Blast.
