The Grand Visir, a colt out of all-conquering Frankel, produced a tremendous debut performance at Great Yarmouth this evening, to delight Newmarket trainer William Haggas.

Sent off at 3/1 under Ryan Moore, the Frankel colt looked a little green early on but as the 11-furlong contest unfolded, he got down to business.

Hugo Palmer's Fibonacci hit the front two furlongs out but Moore galvanised The Grand Visir who surged clear to win by a neck.

'That was great. I'm delighted. He's a great big baby but will learn a lot from that. I think once he learns what his job is and understands what it's all about he could be special,' said Haggas.

Owner Imad Al Sagar, who owned 2007 Epsom Derby winner Authorized, was equally thrilled with The Grand Visir, who holds an entry in the leading classic.

Moore completed a double when 4/9 favourite Commodity won the mile handicap.

But the Sir Michael Stoute trained gelding had to work hard, Moore getting him back in front on the line after being headed in the final furlong by determined runner-up Fashaak.

However, it wasn't all good for Moore when, in the 10-furlong handicap, the Haggas trained Solo Mission, sent off 1/2 favourite, was beaten by Bartholomew J who came from last to first under Simon Pearce, for his mum, trainer Lydia, returned at 7/1.

The Pearces went on to complete a 207/1 double when Picture Dealer won the finale, a six-furlong handicap, at odds of 25/1.

Present Tense was only seventh on debut at Leicester but the John Gosden trained half sister to Kingman clearly learned much from that experience and won the fillies' maiden under Robert Tart, returned the 2/1 favourite.

Newcomer Gakku, from Roger Varian's yard, challenged late on but failed by a neck to reach the winner.

Anastazia was runner-up at Lingfield recently but the mare went one better under Joey Haynes for trainer Paul D'Arcy when taking the mile handicap. Four runners were in with a chance in the final furlong but Anastazia stuck to her task and won at 7/2, beating Flying Fantasy.

Martin Lane got the Derek Shaw trained Chelabella home in the seven-furlong handicap at 18/1, beating fast-finishing Swilly Sunset under in-form Pearce.
