Connaught A held on for an 8-8 draw in their Norwich Cup semi-final first leg at First Bus.

A superb first half performance by Connaught A in the second leg at Attleborough left First Bus reeling as Owen Secker's triple won 16-7, Sheila Bragg's triple won 13-7, Lee Fallows' pair won 8-4 and Sylvia Parsons' pair won 9-3. A 12-3 win for Diane Quadling, Richard Harrison & Sheila Bragg settled the issue in the first session after the break.

East Tuddenham won 8-2 at home to Horsford Heroes in the Bure League, Diss won 8-2 away to Shropham in the South Norfolk League and Coastal Cup leaders Woodbastwick Owls won 15-3 at Hemsby Beachcombers.

Breckland League giants Wymondham beat Forncett 10-0 with Jack Pye's triple winning 42-7. Carleton Rode also won 10-0 at home to Harling Griffins.

In the City League Horsford BC lead the way on 202 points with Horsford Heroes second on 163 points.

Norfolk A played a friendly away to Essex B at East Hanningfield where they ran out winners by a huge 36-4 margin. Biggest wins of the day were a 24-11 win for John Jarvis' triple, a 20-9 win for Terry Newby in the singles and a 22-3 win in the pairs for Teresa & Selwyn Goldsmith.

Potters Abroad's new Cyprus Short Mat Bowls Holiday break at the Athena Beach Hotel in Paphos, that included entry into the Aphrodite Triples, proved to be a great success. After four days of play Richard Broad, of Shropham SMBC, emerged as the first champion playing in a triple with Chris & Celia Jeans of Somerset's Templecoome SMBC.

They finished with an impressive points tally of 36 just one point ahead of Bev Smith, Brendan Dickinson & Chris Collins of Cyprus club Coral Star.

In third place on 32 points were Colin Smith, Derek Lemmon & Dave Holt of Coral Star, fourth were Joan Tree, Ann Swaisland & Ray Offord of Kent with 31 points and fifth were Jimmy Allison, Catherine Allison & Savvas Stavrou of Shogun. UK bowlers also played two evening friendlies against players from various Cyprus teams, captained by Simon Pridham, with the UK players winning both matches.

The NCSMBA is saddened to learn of the death of long time First Bus bowler Trevor Shelly, who passed away suddenly.
