King's Lynn Town were rocked last night by the surprise departure of Marc Goodfellow.

The left winger – who turned down an approach from Worksop Town at the end of last month – found a second approach from the Tigers too good to resist. And Gary Setchell admits he's been left gutted by the free-kick specialist's decision to quit The Walks little more than two months after joining the club.

Lynn's manager said: 'I'm disappointed. Since he's come he's made contributions in most of our games, be it a goal, a cross or a set piece.

'I just feel the timing's killed us. It's going to be very, very hard to get someone in before Saturday (Trafford away). Worksop have blown us out of the water. Goody turned down a similar offer but they came back with an improved one. He felt he had to take it for financial reasons. That's where we are at as a club and we'll have to take it on the chin and move on.'

The 32-year-old, who is based in Derbyshire, scored three goals during his 12 appearances for the Linnets. He signed from Gresley and made himself an instant hit by scoring on his debut against his new club – who also play in the Evo-Stik Premier Division. But his move has hurt Lynn who have seen Jake Jones' loan end and Massiah McDonald start a seven-game ban in the last week.
