Striker Danny Beaumont will have another chance to prove he is the man to fill Steve Spriggs' boots today as King's Lynn Town travel to AFC Kempston Rovers.

Beaumont gave an excellent display on the right-hand side of Lynn's midfield during their 5-1 win over Cogenhoe United on Tuesday as Linnets boss Gary Setchell looks at how best to replace Sweden-bound Spriggs.

With two weeks left until Lynn's top scorer flies to Scandinavia, Setchell insists Beaumont's performances will help decide if he needs to sign a new player to replace his soon-to-be departed winger.

The Linnets boss said: 'I've made enquiries about two or three people but if Danny Beaumont can replicate that form from Tuesday there aren't many better players around than him.

'He's got another chance today to keep his shirt. I've got until March 31 to look at it which gives Danny a couple of games to keep producing that form. He set the bar for his level of performance in midweek and hopefully he can reproduce it.

'He's done it on the left for us this season when we've needed it and we wanted him to do that on the right. He didn't have a great game the first time we used him there but everyone is entitled to a poor one. 'His confidence was up after scoring at Northampton Spencer on Saturday and in the second half on Tuesday he was oozing belief. He's put himself in pole position.'

Setchell is hopeful that Jason Turner (hamstring) and Jordan Yong (ankle) can shake off slight injuries to play as table-topping Lynn hope to keep setting the pace in the United Counties Premier Division title race.

Midfielder Rob Hughes - who missed the midweek win with a back problem - is rated as 60/40. Talented centre-back Ryan Fryatt is likely to be a substitute.

Setchell said: 'Ryan would walk into 90pc of UCL sides as would Dan Buhlemann. We've got an abundance of talented centre-backs to choose from.

'Ryan's played more games than we thought he would of but he's been tremendous and will just get better and better. He's earned the respect of our players and the supporters are warming to him because they can see he deserves to be part of what we're doing here.

'He's had a great season and I'm sure he thinks he should be picked every week but he - and Bully - need to be patient. It's horses for courses at times in this league and Ross (Watson) and Stuart (Wall) have done well in the big games, especially away from home.'

Seventh-placed Kempston have impressed after gaining promotion to the UCL Premier Division but have lost twice at The Walks this season, 3-0 in the League Cup and 2-0 in league.

Striker Danny Watson, the league's top scorer with 25 goals, has also failed to net against the Linnets.
