Wensum Valley is to host an inter-school competition with top prizes of places in the pro-am at their EuroPro tournament in May.

The inter-school championship will take place on Tuesday, April 19. Schools are invited to enter teams of up to four youngsters, with handicaps, who will take part in an individual medal over the Valley course.

The best net score will win the championship trophy for their school and the player will qualify for the pro-am team. He or she will be joined by the players who return the two best gross scores in the competition.

The Europro pro-am, played on May 2, will team the youngsters with an impressive professional. Daniel Gaunt, the winner of last year's event, is now playing on the European Tour.

Wensum Valley professional Brad Jordan commented: 'We have had a fantastic response from schools so far and we are hoping for a very good entry.'

The Europro Tour competition will start on May 3. It will be the sixth time Wensum Valley has staged the opening event on the Europro Tour.

Entry posters and forms have been sent to local schools but are also available from Brad Johnson, email bradjordan6@msn.com or phone 07816 900847.

Wensum Valley successfully trialled the idea of a schools' competition last year which was won by Dylan Green, a Costessey High student and a member at Costessey Park.
