Striker Sam Mulready admits King's Lynn Town fans haven't seen the best of him yet after he rejoined the club yesterday.

The 19-year-old made just 10 appearances during an injury-blighted loan spell at The Walks earlier this term. And the former Grimsby Town frontman is more desperate than ever to impress now the move to his home-town club from Gainsborough Trinity has become a permanent one.

Mulready, who scored once during his three-month stay at Lynn from October to January, said: 'To be quite honest, I don't think the fans or the gaffer (Gary Setchell) even have seen the best side of me yet. I played a bit out of position, which is fine I don't mind, but I think the best of me is definitely to come.

'I'm a goalscorer and I haven't scored many for Lynn this season so I want to get in on the goals with the other players. I'm excited to be getting involved again. Obviously at first I might not be seeing much action but hopefully I can show what I can do and get in the starting line-up again.'

Setchell failed to extend the teenager's temporary spell with his hometown club at the end of last month. However, since returning to Blue Square North Trinity, Mulready didn't play a single minute. It was enough to convince the attacker to have his contract at the Northolme cancelled by mutual consent and now the Lynn lad can't wait to get playing again.

He said: 'I was happy to go back to Gainsborough because I thought I was going to get some sort of game time. Obviously that didn't work out as the boys have been doing quite well, so you can't blame the gaffer (Steve Housham) over there for not putting me in. But I just got fed up with it. I know Setch has been keen for me to come back so I just thought 'let's do it'. I know the boys, it's a great club with great fans so I thought let's do it until the end of the season for now and then see what happens in the summer.'

Mulready and fellow new signing James Jepson go into the Linnets squad for this afternoon's visit of Newcastle Town.

Setchell last night 'balanced the books' by releasing popular midfielder Danny White. The Lynn boss, after ending the 29-year-old's second spell with the Linnets, said: 'After bringing in Charlie Butt, Jepson and Mulready I had to let someone go. Danny's been a great servant during his spells with the club but has been unlucky due to the great form of fellow midfielder Dan Quigley, who has been a revelation, and plays in the same position.

'I've spoken to Danny who understands and I will strive to help him find a new club over the next few days.'
