Rivals West Norfolk and Swaffham prepare to do Greene King Eastern Counties Division One battle
Bragging rights will be up for grabs when rivals West Norfolk host Swaffham in a crunch Greene King Eastern Counties Division One derby.
The pair ended a 31-year wait to finally meet in league action earlier this term with promoted Swaffham losing 59-17 on their own turf. But they make the trip to North Wootton tomorrow hoping to upset the form book against their illustrious rivals.
West, however, sit second, two points behind Newmarket, and will be looking to complete the double over their opponents ahead of rugby's Christmas break.
'I'd say quite a few people will think we are favourites, but I do think Swaffham are a good side,' said West captain Lawrence Savage.
'They have come on quite a bit. Their victory over Ely not so long ago illustrated that. They'll still be a tough side to break down. But I do strongly believe that the destiny of our squad and how we get on the league is very much in our own hands.
'We're unbeaten at home at the moment this season so that's something we're looking to continue with. I've got no doubt in my mind that Swaffham will work as hard and fight for it. So we will have to be at our best to beat them on the day.'
The North Pickenham Road outfit, sixth, go into the clash on the back of consecutive defeats and chairman Ian 'Spike' Milligan admits his troops are the underdogs.

The Swaffham chief said: 'We'll certainly be going there to give it a good crack. You've got to say that West Norfolk are favourites.
'They're at the top of the league, they're at home, they're going to have a big crowd and it's the last league game before the Christmas break. They're going to be looking to finish the year on a high. We know what we're up against. If they play like they played when we played them at our place we've got to come up with something different to combat it, and we'll give it our very best, I'm sure the boys will.'
