Teenage sensation Elliot Holland rounded off a golden season by winning the Scottish under-16 400m outdoor title.

The 14-year-old, who goes to King Edward VII School (KES) in King's Lynn, completed an outstanding double by storming to victory in a time of 52.90 seconds.

The Norfolk athlete won the Scottish indoor crown for the same distance and age group in March and has claimed 13 regional and national medals during 2012.

Holland, who is part of KES' gifted and talented programme as well as being coached by Paul Merrell, said: 'I was full of confidence after running the fastest time in the heats. So then it was just winning the mind games with myself to say I could win the final. It was brilliant to do the double.'

The teenager will now embark on four months of training with Merrell ahead of the 2013 season.

His dad Roger said: 'His mum Debbie and I are so proud of him. Paul's doing a great job with him. They work well together because Elliot's dedication is second to none.'
