With successful matches on venues throughout East Anglia already under the belts of Reel People, it was down to Whittlesey's Decoy Lakes to come up with the goods for the final match in this year's summer series.

Both Oak and Yew lakes were in use for this grand finale of the much-travelled members of Reel People, The Association for Anglers with Disabilities – and as usual the last venue didn't disappoint.

The 2013 series has taken members to matches at highly-rated venues as far a field as the Railway Lakes at Barford, Dents of Hilgay, Westwood Lakes at Boston, Lawn Farm at Elsworth and Hinderclay Lakes on the Norfolk-Suffolk border, with anything up to 30 anglers competing in each event.

The events are organised and run by husband-and-wife team Rob and Tina Bunting, from King's Lynn, founders of the Reel People organisation in the 1999.

'There is a great spirit within the club and we have had some excellent turn-outs for matches, despite experiencing a couple of days when the weather wasn't at its best,' said Rob. 'Also, the results from most matches have been great, with many different names filling the top three places.'

A fitting end to this series couldn't have been better scripted as Rob went on to top-weight on Yew lake with a 59lbs 6oz net from peg nine, all fish taken in the margins on meat and maggot. Stamford's Ray Gregory filled second place with 45lbs from peg two, with Dick Cocksedge from March in third place on 42lbs 3ozs.

Norfolk anglers took all top three places on Oak Lake with Fakenham's Kevin Nicholson recording a winning 78lbs 6ozs pellet-caught weight from corner peg 15. Phil Jackson from Weeting and Darren Howlett from Ingoldisthorpe filled second and third spots with 60lbs 15oz and 54lbs 5ozs respectively.

A much appreciated feature of the two matches that are held on the Decoy complex is the substantial help given by Environment Agency members in carrying tackle and helping set up those anglers needing help, as well as supplying further nets to any angler needing extra ones during the course of the match – a valuable help for many of those with mobility problems.
