Mark Webber struggled to hide his annoyance at Caterham's Giedo van der Garde after their collision hampered the Red Bull star's Canadian Grand Prix.
Webber was third when he approached to lap the Dutchman but rather than being given room to pass, Van der Garde cut across the front of Webber's Red Bull.
'I don't know what he was doing because we had a lot of blue flags up to the hairpin,' said Webber. 'I rolled down the inside giving him plenty of time to make sure that I'm there and then when I got to the apex I got completely on the kerb trying to give him as much room as possible, but in the end he kept trying to make the apex.
'He gets a time penalty and so do I obviously because I have a damaged front wing. We made contact. Fair enough on position but when you're getting lapped with the leaders coming through battling for the top spots and you're closing the door on the leaders, it's not very clever.
'It was pretty knackered to be fair, that whole top section of it was gone on the left-hand side. It didn't help from then on, obviously when you're fighting for podiums and you're racing Fernando he's obviously going to sniff out any damage on the car.'
Webber's damaged front wing still saw him to fifth, while Van der Garde's miserable afternoon ended with front wing damage of his own after another collision – this time while being lapped by Nico Hulkenberg.
That incident cost him a five-place grid penalty for the next round of the Formula One championship – at Silverstone.
'Obviously it was his fault,' added Webber. 'Obviously the stewards see it like that…I don't know if he has a lot of concentration to drive the car in terms of what's straight ahead of him, but obviously we had heavy blue flags up at the hairpin. I arrived in the mirrors on the long straight beforehand and then we made contact. I couldn't believe it.'
Van der Garde added: 'It wasn't a good day for me. I want to say sorry to Mark for the incident we had and I'll make sure I learn from the stewards' decision on the five-place penalty for the next race. Sometimes you make mistakes, but the important thing is to accept them, learn from them and move on.
'I was heading towards the hairpin with Hulkenberg alongside. I moved over for him but he turned in in front of me in the braking zone and we made contact and that was the end of my race.'
