Roger Ellis also caught and returned a brownie of 6lb-plus while Graham Leech took a 5lb-plus brownie. Most anglers have been taking their limits using a variety of flies, damsels, hares ears, montanas and buzzers, all fished on a floating line. The fish are rising to hatches throughout the day with particularly good evening rises.

Blackdyke trout fishery (07525 730447): Yet another good week, with most anglers taking limit bags. Buzzers, hares ears, pheasant tails, and damsels have worked well when fished on a floating line with a slow retrieve. Mark Rose took 10 rainbows and released several others. There will be a coaching day on Sunday, April 25, hosted by Tim Gaunt Baker. Blackdyke now has two electrical hooks for touring caravans with shower facilities in the fishing lodge as well as a large area for campers.

Rocklands Mere (07900 004953): Newcomer to the sport Katie Williams from Hingham enjoyed an incredible evening rise on Thursday. After a lesson in casting and presenting dries she was soon targeting rising fish in the lodge bay. After a few missed opportunities she was playing her first rainbow. Another three followed, all taken on a size 14 Black CDC buzzer, the biggest being 3lb.

Season ticket holder David Long from Norwich caught his biggest RMF Rainbow to date on Thursday evening when he banked one of 5lb 2oz. David was fishing the far end of the lake and caught the fish on a floating line and Green Pheasant tail.

Larkwood trout fishery (01284 728612): Martin Taylor took a cracking fish fully finned and tipping the scales at 13lb 7oz. He used a damsel. Black buzzers fished on a floating line and fished static proved to be the most successful tactic last week. The rod average is 3.2 fish per angler with an average weight of nearly 2lb. Both lakes are clear.

Narborough trout fishery (01760 338005): Last week saw the troutmasters fish off, which was eventually won by Steve Turnbull with a weight of 4.7 kilos. Steve will now go on to fish the troutmasters final later in the year. Hares ears, pheasant tails, and very small flies size 16 or smaller have all caught fish over the past week. All three lakes are clear.
