King's Lynn's National League basketball outfit CWA Fury are determined to take their play-off fight to the wire.

The Lynnsport-based team sit third in Division Four (South-East) having embarked on a fine run of form which leaves them with a decent chance of finishing in the top two.

If they do, Fury will qualify for the end-of-season shoot-out and club officials hope a string of four home games, starting tonight against struggling Medway Park Crusaders (6pm tip-off), can keep them in contention as the campaign reaches its closing stages.

Head coach James Bamfield, whose side won 61-56 at Greenwich Titans on Sunday said: 'It was another great day for this growing side.

'The boys are starting to develop a certain mental toughness about themselves which I think has been helped by the realisation that we have zero room for failure. For us there's now a certain sense of desperation developing that every single play matters and the focus that is helping to develop in our side is making us a dangerous team.

'We knew from the start of the year we had talent but now we are starting to believe we have a great team that can achieve something together. We now return home for four straight Saturdays to finish the season and we have to make Lynnsport an absolute fortress.

'The cauldron of noise that Peckham faced recently was immense and the boys responded by taking a massive lead. We had around 200 people at that game and we're going to continue to put three stands out for the remaining games.

'This is the time to get involved in a game – we haven't had this type of success in 10 years! I'm absolutely sure there are 400 people in Lynn who love watching basketball and our team deserves your support for all their hard work and commitment.'

The senior side's success follows on from a great start to 2014 for the College-backed outfit that was recently handed the prestigious England Basketball Clubmark award. CWA had to prove they maintained high standards in coaching and child protection – among a number of other attributes.

Club sponsor and promoted Kevin Holland said: 'I am proud to be associated with CWA Fury. The club has a very strong support structure for new talent with clear and defined procedures in all aspects of care, coaching and development.'
