Defensive worries dominate the thoughts of manager Ian Culverhouse as King's Lynn Town bid to get back to winning ways tomorrow.

The Linnets saw their four-match winning streak come to an end when they were beaten 2-1 by St Neots at The Walks in midweek, losing three defenders to injury before the half-time whistle.

Ryan Fryatt suffered a nasty gash above one eye and both Tom Ward and Sam Gaughran limped off before the break as well. With the trio unlikely to be involved today, 16-year-old Peterborough United academy defender Sam Cartwright has been brought in ahead of Saturday's clash with mid-table rivals Dunstable.

'It just sums up what a night it was really and the way we're doing it at the moment, the defenders are scoring our goals,' Culverhouse said. 'So when you lose your three centre-halves it's going to be a long night and it was.

'I'm just disappointed because the quality we showed on the ball was poor, that's probably more upsetting than anything.'

The former Norwich City defender is still in the process of moulding the Lynn squad in his image, after succeeding long-serving boss Gary Setchell last month.

'There isn't a magic wand, it's a case of giving these youngsters a chance to play, letting the older ones see them and integrate them together and coming up with a formula for next year,' Culverhouse continued.

'Like I've said to them, you're going to lose games, you can't afford to give away goals like we did and we need better quality on the ball.'

The clash with 16th-placed Dunstable, who lost 5-0 at Leamington last weekend and have won just one of their last seven games, will be a third home game in eight days for the Linnets – with over 500 having attended last weekend's 2-1 win over Basingstoke.

'It's a big club, you've got to get it right,' Culverhouse continued, speaking to Lynn's official Youtube channel. 'This is all about creating for next year and we've got to make sure that all the pieces of the jigsaw are in place. We're going to lose games, we're not going to win every game, but the quality on the ball disappointed me. I want a team that's comfortable in possession and has good quality.'
