Peter Wright came from 5-3 down to defeat Adrian Lewis 6-5 in the final of Players' Championship One to claim his first title of 2016.

The world number five claimed the £10,000 first prize and an eighth ranking title of his career as he bounced back from last week's loss in the Coral UK Open final and a defeat to Lewis in the Betway Premier League on Thursday in style.

Wright, from Mendham, near Harleston, went pretty close to replicating that feat on Sunday at Players' Championship Two in Barnsley. But the Scot was beaten 6-5 by eventual winner Stephen Bunting – who knocked out Bungay's Andrew Gilding 6-1 in the last eight.

Earlier in the week, Gilding and Norwich's Darren Webster qualified for the Gibraltar Trophy (May 6-8). The pair then followed that success by ensuring they will join the sport's top stars once again, including Wright, at the European Matchplay in Hamburg, Germany (May 13-15).

Wymondham's James Hubbard was dumped out in the first qualifying round of the Trophy.
