King’s Lynn supports Linnets ahead of semi-final play-off

Hundreds of people are expected to visit The Walks in King's Lynn to watch the Linnets take on Weymouth in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier play-off semi-finals.

The club has secured second spot in the final league table and the people of King's Lynn have rallied behind the Linnets, with many hoping they make the final on Bank Holiday Monday.

With news that the club's manager Ian Culverhouse is due to leave The Walks at the end of the season, the King's Lynn squad hope to give him the perfect send off.

West Norfolk council leader Brian Long said: 'It is really good to see King's Lynn Town Football Club doing so well with their performance on the pitch this season.

'The manager has done very well and I wish them all the very best.'

Jon Green, chief executive of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, said: 'King's Lynn Town have done very well this season and I'm sure I speak on behalf of everyone at team QEH in wishing them the best of luck in the play-offs.

'It would be fantastic to see them clinch promotion.'

West Norfolk mayor Carol Bower said: 'It's so positive to see the team's commitment and hard work this season paying off in this way. We are all right behind them and really excited at the prospect of promotion. I wish them the very best.'

Club chairman Stephen Cleeve added: 'We have all enjoyed a season of memorable football at the Walks and it would be marvellous not only for the club but the town in general if we could gain promotion and bring back step two football to West Norfolk.

'It's 10 seasons since the former club played at that level which is far too long for a town like this.

'I would ask the people not only of the Town but the surrounding area to come along and support us and get behind our team.'
