Norwich United's hopes of increasing their advantage over bottom side Romford were dashed when Tyler Corlett headed home at the far post from Elliott Ronto's 89th-minute free-kick.

It was harsh on a Planters side who had allowed the hosts very few clear-cut chances on a cold night in Essex.

Andy Wilton twice denied Ronto with good saves and the Planters had chances of their own before the break with Sam Applegate's long-range strike spectacularly tipped over the bar by Witham keeper Bobby Mason.

After the break, Wilton saved well from Correy Davidson but as the game went on the Planters applied more pressure and Shaun Wones saw his header from Rian Carroll's free-kick hit the top of Mason's upright.

Nathan Stewart's pace was causing the home defence problems as they tired but the Planters couldn't find a way to goal, with Corlett's late header denying them a point they richly deserved.
