With the Norwich Table Tennis League fast approaching the end of the season, most teams now have only two games to prove they are worthy of promotion – or avoiding relegation.

In Premier A, Foxwood A took a big step towards securing second place, beating a strong Originals B team 8-2 in a confident performance.

Andrew Hawes and Chris Cockburn were on hand with maximums for Foxwood, Cockburn without dropping a set.

Elsewhere, Ceyms B's Stuart Laws and Martyn Clarke fought well against Foxwood B to earn what could be a vital point in their relegation battle.

Foxwood D are on the brink of promotion from Premier B after beating promotion rivals Dynamic Rams 7-3. Skipper Carl Matthewson won all his singles and was the difference on the night. Foxwood followed this up with a 10-0 win over two-man Returners A to all but secure their place in Premier A next season.

In Division One, SFC A continued their march towards the title with an impressive 8-2 win over Electricity. Andy Cullum and Paul Arthurs both went unbeaten on the night for the victors, but Electricity's Nick Galley's resilience and convincingly frightening forehand smashes earned him the player of the match award.

The race for promotion in Division Two took another twist this week – a win for Taverham C against first-placed Gothic D would have put them in the driving seat for the second promotion spot. However, Gothic proved too consistent, managing to win all of the four matches that went to five sets and win the match 8-2. Bob Stevenson played particularly well for Gothic, overcoming Geoff Cook and Janet Kelly in close matches. Ceyms E were quick to take advantage, stepping back into second place with a 6-4 win over Wensum I, thanks to maximums from Chris Thirtle and Barry Howes.

A similar story can be found in Division Three, with Dynamic Rams B and Taverham E both winning to remain neck and neck for second place. The Rams played well to overcome a strong performance from Wensum J's Geoff Critten, Sophie Gurton earning a decisive maximum to win the match 7-3.
