PSV have become the latest club linked with saving Ricky van Wolfswinkel from his Norwich City nightmare.

Fresh from speculation Benfica were about to make their move for the Dutchman, claims which were subsequently denied, the Eredivisie outfit are reportedly keen on the man who scored just one goal for the Canaries in the Premier League last season.

It remains to be seen whether PSV firm up their interest with a firm bid but it is clear that if Norwich want rid of the 25-year-old then there are going to be takers.

New boss Neil Adams has insisted the Canaries are under no pressure to sell any of their players but he must also decide whether Van Wolfswinkel is really cut out for the hurly burly of Championship football. Further to that, does the former Sporting Lisbon striker want to stay at Carrow Road having struggled in a team that never played to his strengths under Chris Hughton? Is he prepared to take a hit on his wages in order to prove he isn't a big money flop?

If Norwich do decide to sell then it is inevitable they will have to take a hit on the £8.5m they parted with last summer. That won't go down well when every penny has to be prisoner in pursuit of making an immediate return to the Premier League.

With Van Wolfswinkel only 12 months into a four-year contract at Carrow Road, an attractive option could be for City to loan out the forward in the hope he rediscovers his scoring touch. City could then reap the benefit of the striker hopefully improving his market value or re-integrating the player into a squad that has regained top-flight status at the first attempt.

If Adams feels Van Wolfswinkel isn't the man to spearhead his attack next season then a loan deal could suit all parties.
