Chelsea loan signing Josh McEachran could be in line for his Watford debut this evening against the Canaries.

The cultured playmaker signed too late to feature in the weekend Championship 5-1 win at Barnsley, but Hornets' boss Gianfranco Zola is pledging to make changes in a congested spell for his squad.

'We have our fourth game in about nine or ten days so it would be really foolish not to rotate some of the players,' he said. 'There are players who have played in the last three matches and when you do that the risk of injury is quite high especially considering we have another game on Saturday and then again next Tuesday.

'I will rest some players but I can assure you we will field a team which is competitive. He is in the squad and should be fit enough to play; whether he does or not I will have to decide. He will certainly play a part of the game or all of it.'

• Norwich City's development side beat Leciester City 1-0 at Colney on Monday with a second half goal from Jamar Loza. Remi Matthews also saved a penalty in a Canaries' line-up that featured both Dani Ayala and David Fox. Chris Hughton confirmed at his pre-match cup press call neither will be involved at Watford.
