When the prize of a new Norwich City shirt signed by the first team squad was put up for a prize on www.canarysquares.co.uk, over 67,000 hits from Canary supporters took the website down.

Over a three day period from Friday, April 23 the unprecedented amount of hits were recorded by website manager Paul Williamson.

Paul Williamson said: 'Due to the sheer volume of traffic the server just couldn't handle it - so we had to create a temporary holding page and make our apologies. The response to our online competition to win the new Norwich City signed shirt was just overwhelming, and needless to say, our corporate sponsors are delighted.'

The lucky winner of the shirt was season ticket holder Clive Derry of Reepham Road, Norwich, and the runner up was Maurice Fox of Sheffield Road, Wymondham who won a case of Peter Graham Wines.
