Ryan Bennett is well aware that Norwich City's defensive problems must be eliminated if the Canaries are to earn a positive result at high-flying Brighton on Saturday.

Chris Hughton's team have the best defensive record in the Championship so far, conceding just nine goals in 14 games, whereas City's back-line was breached when in a winning position for the 11th time this campaign at Leeds in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.

'It's a disappointment, the thing is letting the game go,' stand-in skipper Bennett said after the fourth round loss at Elland Road.

'We were winning the game twice so for us to let that go was even more disappointing and for them it was jubilation at the end.

'We need to work on that and put that right and hopefully we'll go on Saturday and prove that.'

Goals from Alex Pritchard and Nelson Oliveira were both wiped out after lax defending, leaving the game at 1-1 after 90 minutes and 2-2 after extra-time, before Leeds won a penalty shoot-out 3-2 in front of their vociferous supporters in Yorkshire.

'We dominated the game early on and when they had a good spell you could hear the crowd getting hyped up and that's obviously good for them, and not good for us,' the 26-year-old defender continued.

'So our job was to keep them quiet and we did that for large parts of the game and they had little spells, which is going to happen, so we need to work on that to not concede in those moments.'
