Norwich City's England international John Ruddy is reportedly a target for Chelsea's new boss Jose Mourinho.

The Sun claim on Friday City have rebuffed an initial £5m approach for the St Ives keeper who has established himself as one of the Premier League's most consistent performers since Norwich returned to the big time in 2011.

Ruddy's form for the Canaries since a £400,000 switch from Everton to replace Fraser Forster has seen him force his way into the England squad. The keeper missed five months of last season with a thigh injury but returned for the vital back-to-back league wins over West Brom and Manchester City that guaranteed Norwich's survival. The Sun report states Mourinho's offer for the England ace was immediately turned down with City unwilling to enter any discussions for such a derisory figure.

Meanwhile, the Croydon Advertiser has published quotes on Friday attributed to a management company representing City striker Grant Holt denying Crystal Palace have made a firm bid for the forward.

'It's just speculation, really,' said the spokesman. 'Until a club, or Palace, show their cards and put down some money, we've had not contact with Palace over Grant. Obviously, the fact that Norwich have signed Ricky van Wolfswinkel for £8m and they want to bring one or two others in, it would probably be the right time for Grant to move on. We are in constant dialogue with Norwich, but there hasn't been any enquiry at all from Palace so he'll report back to pre-season training as normal next week. We've been in this situation with Grant many times throughout his career – until people put their money down, it's just pure speculation, so that's where we are with it at the moment.

'I think it's really difficult to say (on Holt's valuation). There had been £4m quoted but I don't think it would be that much to get him, I think it would be less than that. Norwich have a value, and he's been a brilliant player for them over the past three seasons. I think it's just a case of a club testing the water really.'

The Mirror claim Nathan Redmond is set to snub the overtures of Norwich and Swansea in favour of a move to Everton. Blues' boss and former Norwich assistant manager Lee Clark revealed earlier this week his cash-strapped club had accepted two bids from unamed clubs and the England Under-21 international was now free to enter into discussions over personal terms. Media in the Midlands claimed Norwich and Swansea were the two clubs had who met Birmingham's valuation, but the Mirror report Redmond has informed the Blues' hierarchy his preferred option is a Merseyside switch.

Finally, the Sun is touting former Norwich striker Steve Morison for a swift return to old club Millwall on a season-long loan - barely six months after his January transfer window move to Leeds.

Former Reading boss Brian McDermott is reportedly keen to bring in Noel Hunt from the Royals, paving the way for Morison to head south. Ex-Lions' boss Kenny Jackett went public last season saying they had been priced out of a move for Morison when he initially left Carrow Road in the New Year window.
