Chris Hughton believes club record buy Ricky van Wolfswinkel is capable of taking the Premier League by storm.

The Norwich chief will not be surprised if the 24-year-old Dutch international has a similar impact to Aston Villa's Christian Benteke who plundered 19 Premier League goals in a prolific debut campaign.

'We hope he's the man. The test is can he do it in a very tough division,' he said. 'We've seen scorers at Aston Villa like Benteke when he arrived, and Grant Holt got 15 goals for us in the season before last.'

Hughton, quoted in the Daily Mirror, feels City have signed a player who can make the difference.

'In this division you have to make sure you are hard to beat but you also have to have players who can make the difference,' he said. 'I can't think of one game last season where we thought this one is going to be comfortable for us. This signing could be the one that turns some of our draws into wins. We drew a lot last season and that is one area where we would like to change.'
