Norwich City have confirmed that striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel is in the squad for tonight's pre-season friendly at Braintree Town.

The £8m Dutch striker has been linked with moves away from City this summer following his disastrous debut season, scoring just once, but Canaries fans could see the 25-year-old in action in Essex tonight (7.45pm kick-off).

The former Sporting Lisbon man is joined by Wes Hoolahan, Anthony Pilkington, Martin Olsson and Mark Bunn in the squad for the match – all of whom were not in the squad for Saturday's 1-0 win at Dereham Town.

Midfielders Hoolahan and Pilkington started their summer breaks late due to international duty with the Republic of Ireland, Olsson has been receiving treatment for a should injury and Declan Rudd was preferred to Bunn as back-up goalkeeper at Dereham.

Rudd, Jacob Murphy and Luciano Becchio drop out of the squad and could be in consideration for a City select XI which is also playing tonight at King's Lynn Town.

Former captain Sebastien Bassong is due to play in that match against the Linnets, which is also a 7.45pm kick-off.

Norwich City squad for Braintree: John Ruddy (GK), Steven Whittaker, Bradley Johnson, Russell Martin (C), Michael Turner, Lewis Grabban, Jonny Howson, Kyle Lafferty, Gary Hooper, Anthony Pilkington, Mark Bunn (GK), Wes Hoolahan, Jamar Loza, Elliott Bennett, Javier Garrido, Ricky van Wolfswinkel, Josh Murphy, Nathan Redmond, Martin Olsson, Ryan Bennett, Alexander Tettey, Andrew Surman, Adel Gafaiti.
