Poll: As Paul Jewell is sacked, would Norwich City fans be happy to see Ipswich Town relegated?

Ipswich Town have sunk to the bottom of the Championship and sacked their manager - but do Norwich City supporters want to see the Tractor Boys relegated?

A 2-1 home defeat to Derby County at Portman Road last night saw Peterborough United move above Town, thanks to a 3-1 win against Huddersfield Town.

It was Town's third successive loss and extended their winless streak to 10 matches.

This afternoon the Suffolk club confirmed it had parted company with Jewell by mutual consent.

It is easy for Norwich City supporters to laugh at their Suffolk neighbours from their position of 15th in the Premier League, a full 29 places further up the ladder of English football.

However, we want to know if supporters would actually like to see their arch rivals sink to the third tier, League One, or if they would prefer the two teams to be in the same division.

If Town were to be relegated at the end of this season it would guarantee a third successive season without an East Anglian derby league fixture for supporters of both sides to savour, even if Norwich were to be relegated as well.

When both teams are in the same division, the two matches are the first that both sets of supporters look for when the fixtures are published at the start of the season.

So would City fans prefer to see Town recover from their current woes and join them in the Premier League? Or is seeing your rivals suffer more satisfying?

During the 2010/11 season City emerged victorious in both fixtures; a glorious 4-1 win at Carrow Road in November, before a historic 5-1 win at Portman Road in April which helped City towards their second-place finish, and promotion to the riches of the Premier League.

And while the Canaries may have the upper hand at the moment, the East Anglian derby has provided plenty of happy memories for Town fans over the years as well, including a 5-0 thrashing of City at Portman Road in February 1998.

Since the local rivals first clashed in 1946 Town have won 40 of their 93 matches, with Norwich victorious in 36 of them and 17 ending in stalemate.

But when will we next see the two teams battle for the local bragging rights?
