After a few days of recriminations following Norwich City's continuing woes on the road on Saturday, Chris Hughton will hope City's home comforts can offer an ideal response on Saturday.

The Canaries have lost just once in 11 matches at Carrow Road – that defeat coincidentally coming against this weekend's visitors, Aston Villa.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City were the only other sides to leave Norfolk with a three-point haul last term – so while Norwich continue to struggle on the road, there is likely to be a different mentality come this weekend.

'There's no getting away from it, any opposition are always going to be dangerous here,' recalled City defender Steven Whittaker.

'Every team in the Premier League has got someone you have got to be wary of, so I think here at Carrow Road we can be a little bit more expansive and try to attack and win games here. But it's important that me as a defender and as a team, that we concentrate defensively as well because it's just as important.'

Last season the Canaries picked up 31 of their 44 points at Carrow Road – a home record that was 10th best in the top-flight.

However, City's record of two wins and seven draws on the road last term was only worse for Queens Park Rangers and Reading – both of which were relegated come the end of the season.

And while there were hopes City's summer recruitment would lead to a better time of things on the road this time around, the start to their road trips this season has yet to bring a goals let alone a point.

City will travel to Mark Hughes' rejuvenated Stoke City on Sunday week for their next trip – another lunchtime kick-off on the back of Saturday's welcome home comforts.
