Alex Neil's team brought an end to a run of four games without a win in the Premier League in style, winning at Old Trafford for the first time since 1989.

Goals from Cameron Jerome and Alex Tettey were enough for the Canaries to survive Anthony Martial bringing the hosts back into the game in the 66th minute.

Match report: Manchester United 1 Norwich City 2

Two further wins, over Aston Villa and Southampton, followed in the next three league games to lift City to 15th place and six points clear of the bottom three.

However, losing 13 of the remaining 18 matches saw Neil's team ruin their season and the Canaries have returned to the Championship battleground – with victory at Old Trafford now seeming like a distant memory.

The Canaries had lost their last six visits at the home of the 20-time English champions, the last three of which were 4-0 thrashings.

In December 1993 goals from Ruel Fox and Chris Sutton earned a 2-2 draw but that was the only point claimed by Norwich in their last 10 visits.

The December 2015 victory was the first since August 1989, when Dave Stringer's team won 2-0 in the top flight, with Dale Gordon and Robert Fleck on target.
