One of the men widely tipped to be in contention for the head coach vacancy at Carrow Road may be about to commit long-term to his current club.

According to reports from The Sun, Garry Monk is set to be offered a five-year deal to stay at Leeds United and push the Elland Road club even closer to a Premier League return – having narrowly missed out on the Championship play-offs this season.

After losing his touch at Swansea, Monk's rebuild job at Leeds in his first season has rehabilitated his reputation.

That in turn thrust the 38-year-old's name high in the list of likely candidates for the head coach vacancy at Norwich City, as the Canaries look to fill the last piece of the jigsaw that is their new structure on and off the pitch.

Given the extent of Leeds' managerial turnover under previous owner Massimo Cellino, Monk's job has been all the more impressive this term.

And having bought the Italian's 50pc stake in the club, new Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani will reportedly hold talks with Monk soon over a potential five-year deal to ensure Monk remains at Elland Road.

Managerless Middlesbrough – whose Premier League relegation was confirmed on Monday night – have also reportedly been tracking the Leeds boss.

As for City, Fleetwood boss Uwe Rosler and Huddersfield head coach David Wagner have been highly touted with their vacancy alongside Monk – although sporting director Stuart Webber may well pull out a more obscure name, come the final appointment before the end of the month.

One name Webber has ruled out as City's new head coach is Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill.
