Ben Godfrey is rapidly causing Norwich City boss Alex Neil a selection headache after another eye-catching pre-season cameo in the 3-1 friendly defeat to FK Dukla Prague in Austria.

The 18-year-old, signed in January as one for the future, impressed again operating at right-back in a combative 45-minute outing on Wednesday against the tough Czechs.

'We are still trying to find his best position, I thought he did really well in the second half,' said Neil. 'We bought him as a central midfielder but at the moment we are just trying to get him as much game time as we can.

'His competitive streak is really, really good, he is strong, aggressive and he can use the ball well so he has a lot to work with. He is 18, the same age as Todd Cantwell and guys like that, but physically he is a man. He has good scope to improve.'

Neil is focused on a positive finish to their week-long tour, with a game against the Russians Rubin Kazan on Saturday.

'It has been good,' he said. 'We have got a lot of work in and that is something you also have to bear in mind with these games. The lads who played the first game will have had a really tough training session the day before in 30C heat. It is all geared to the first league game. If we were to win five in pre-season and lose at Blackburn no-one is going to care. It is gearing towards that first game and being ready. The one thing I have done is to ensure when we play Rubin Kazan at the weekend we will have a more experienced side. A lot of the young lads got a run in this opening match so it will be slightly different.'
