Norwich City striker Simeon Jackson is focussed on helping Canada take another step on the road to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil when they face Cuba this Friday in the next stage of their qualifying campaign.
Jackson played the final 25 minutes of a goalless warm-up against USA in Toronto at the weekend as Stephen Hart's squad gear up for their first pool match in the third round of the CONCAF series. Canada have been drawn in the same group as Cuba, Honduras and Panama in their bid to reach the finals for the first time since 1986.
'Preparations have gone well,' he said. 'We have had a good training camp and we're just working on the things we believe can make us better and help us progress in the next stage. We know it will be tough but we are looking to get off to a good start.
'We need to pick up points at home, so that is key for us. We had a bit of momentum going through the previous stage and we want to make sure that continues. We have a good core of experienced players now and they will have an important role to play.'
