Neil Adams is confident all his frontline troops will return for this week's Championship trip to leaders Bournemouth.

The City boss opted for a no-risk strategy on FA Cup duty at Preston with Lewis Grabban and Cameron Jerome added to the roll call of senior men absent against the Lilywhites.

Grabban complained of soreness in his Achilles while top scorer Jerome sat out the trip to rest an ankle complaint.

Adams revealed both had injections following on from a similar course of treatment for Swedish international Martin Olsson and midfielder Alex Tettey earlier in the week to treat persistent knee problems. With Carlos Cuellar (calf) and Elliott Bennett (hamstring) also sidelined and Vadis Ofoe just back in light training Adams was not prepared to gamble on the fitness of his senior men at Deepdale.

'Lewis had an injection in his Achilles. He has some soreness there but we are hopeful he will be back this week,' said Adams, ahead of a potential reunion against the Cherries for the striker who left in the summer. 'Jerome, same again, he had an injection in his ankle. He hasn't been too well either but he wouldn't have played because of the injection. Again he should be okay.

'When they have these injections they need three or four days for it to settle down and they are not training so you don't want to rush them back in.'

• City loanee Louis Thompson earned Swindon a point with an 88th-minute equaliser in Saturday's 2-2 League One draw at Fleetwood, with another of the club's youth brigade, Harry Toffolo, playing the full 90 minutes for the Robins.

City signed 20-year-old Thompson on the final day of the previous transfer window before loaning him back to his boyhood club for the rest of this season.

Toffolo's FA Youth Cup winning team-mate Carlton Morris was a second-half substitute in York's 3-0 League Two away win at Carlisle United. Remi Matthews has now returned from his Burton loan stint.
