Norwich City's automatic promotion rivals Cardiff City have hit out at the Canaries having two extra rest days before their Easter Monday game.

Second-placed Norwich City host Derby County at Carrow Road four days after thrashing local rivals Ipswich Town 5-1 in the East Anglian derby at Portman Road on Thursday.

The Welsh club - one point behind the Canaries - travel to Preston on Monday just 48 hours after holding leaders QPR in a 2-2 draw.

Cardiff City midfielder Stephen McPhail told the BBC: 'We only have a day to recover which is a bit of scandal really because I think Norwich had four days.'

The Bluebirds manager Dave Jones added: 'I don't know why everyone didn't play on Thursday. It baffles me. Why would you give an advantage to the other clubs that played on Thursday.

'It is not right as we should have had the same amount of rest as everyone else at this stage of the season.

'We should have all played Thursday. I don't know why league did that.'
