Norwich City's teenage striker Carlton Morris revealed he did not have to think twice before agreeing a loan switch to League Two Oxford United.

Morris completed a move to the Kassam Stadium earlier this week on a youth loan until January 1 and the FA Youth Cup winner views his link-up with Michael Appleton's squad as the next stage of his footballing education.

'I got a call from my agent that there was some interest from a top League Two club. As soon as he told me I put two and two together and Oxford was top of that list,' said the powerful frontman, who made his senior bow last week for the Canaries as a late substitute in the 5-1 friendly win over OGC Nice at Carrow Road. 'I'm buzzing to finally be here. It's a big club with a lot of history, so why wouldn't you want to be a part of that? I've played in lots of varieties of football now and I just take it as it goes. You have to adapt to every game and I'm ready for the challenge. I'm just excited to get going with it.'

The 18-year-old's meteoric progress through Norwich's academy saw him earn a two-and-a-half year professional deal in December 2013 and Appleton believes he has made an astute short-term acquisition.

'Carlton had a number of clubs looking at him and I think it speaks volumes for Oxford United that he has chosen to come here when other clubs were chasing his services,' he told his club's official site. 'He is big and strong, technically very good, and he is a decent finisher so we are excited to have him here. We have always said that we will wait until the right payer is available, someone we believe will strengthen what we already have, and Carlton fits the bill perfectly and we will continue our efforts to bring in further attacking options before the transfer window closes.'
