Norwich City's winning surge comes as no surprise to Alex Tettey but the Norwegian international has been taken aback by the rawness of Championship combat.

The 28-year-old's return to the ranks after the opening league defeat at Wolves in tandem with Bradley Johnson has coincided with a four-game winning streak but Tettey insists there is no magic formula.

'There is no secret. Everyone is working hard. We are playing against Ipswich not Chelsea,' he said. 'Obviously we are one of the good teams in the Championship, so for me personally I am not that surprised at the results, although it is good to win. You have to do something to win, and we are doing the right things now so we just need to keep doing what we are doing. We should just concentrate on winning games but not get carried away, let's take it game-by-game.'

'We have a lot of the ball in these games so as a midfielder you can go forward more. It is easier for me to impose myself. I am doing things now I felt I couldn't do perhaps when we were focused on defending and being a defensive midfielder. Now I feel I can get forward and try to be box-to-box when I am able to.'

Tettey was in the thick of the action at Portman Road against a robust Ipswich side.

'Ipswich and Blackburn were very direct and that was a surprise,' he said. 'I was surprised by Wolves as well and the level they showed and the way you can easily lose games in this league. You can win one day and lose the next to a team you shouldn't.

'Obviously how many games we play to this season is also something I have to get used to. I did my first Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday last week and it's tough. There is a lot of fatigue if you do that over the long road but we have a big squad and I don't think that will be a problem.'

Tettey was touted with a summer return to the Premier League before Norwich took up an option in his existing Carrow Road deal and the 28-year-old, who will be on international duty next week against England at Wembley, has made no secret of his desire to get back to the top flight.

'Of course you miss the Premier League. If you ask any player they would say, 'Do you want to watch it on the couch or do you want to be out there?',' he said. 'I want to be the one playing and others watching me. It is what it is. We just have to move on. We are working very hard to get back.'
