Norwich City keeper Remi Matthews has joined Scottish Premiership outfit Hamilton on a season-long loan after sealing a new Carrow Road deal.
The 22-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the option of another 12 months to replace his original deal which was set to run out in 2017. Alex Neil confirmed on Friday his old club was Matthews' immediate destination and the keeper, who had loan stints at Burton and Doncaster last season, has completed a move to New Douglas Park.
Matthews, who has been at Norwich since the age of ten, is yet to make his competitive debut for the club but featured for half an hour in the behind-closed-doors friendly 2-1 win over Walsall at St George's Park.
'It's always nice to have that security behind me, so to have another year under my belt is a positive step,' Matthews told Norwich City TV. 'The coaching staff felt that I need to be playing more games so hopefully I can go up to Hamilton and play as much as possible.
'I was out on loan twice last year and felt like I was improving with every game, so I'm looking to build on that and show everyone what I can do.'
